Dear Members & Friends of the Chamber
Last week we held our 7th Canadian University Alumni event generously sponsored by Simon Fraser University, Western University, CIBC and Scotiabank. We were delighted to see so many there. Our guest of honour was Joy Johnson, SFU's 10th President and Vice-Chancellor and under her stewardship SFU has been named Canada's top comprehensive university in 2025 Maclean's rankings. Joy is committed to carrying out SFU's vision to be a leading research university advancing an inclusive and sustainable future.
This edition we feature articles on Education and Creative Industries from: SFU; Western; University of Toronto and Rotman; York and McGill as well as feature how with the right financial support creative industries could fuel the UK Government's growth mission and help tackle persistent regional inequality.
The next two months is always a busy time of year for our event programme and coming up we have: a networking evening at Canada House (22 Oct); a briefing on Canada’s Conservatives and the Canadian political/economic scene at CIBC (23 Oct); and a webinar to discuss implications for international businesses on the UK Budget (31 Oct); a webinar with Roz Morris titled 'Do you have the Skills to Succeed in the Visual Economy?' on 4 November. Other events are also being finalised and will be promoted shortly including our Christmas lunch on Friday 6 December with Tim Richards, Founder & CEO, Vue International at Saddlers Hall in London. Vue is now the largest privately held cinema operator in Europe. Tim resides in London, England and holds Canadian, British and US passports.
The world's largest business show is back for 2024, returning to London's ExCeL on the 13th & 14th of November and alongside this is the Going Global Live show aiming to help businesses wishing to expand overseas. As in the past the Chamber has a stand so come and visit!
We feature some more UK and Canadian success stories this edition. If your company would like to feature in a future publication focusing on Canadian and UK Success stories, helping both the UK and Canada to grow and prosper, do get in touch.
Happy business networking and come and see us soon.
