Dear Members & Friends of the Chamber
This edition we highlight International Trade News. Latest figures from the UK’s Department for Business & Trade show that total trade in goods and services (exports plus imports) between the UK and Canada was £25.9bn in the 4 quarters to the end of Q2 2023, an increase of 6.0% or £1.5bn in current prices from the 4 quarters to the end of Q2 2022. Recent corporate news stories include plentiful examples of Canadian success stories in the UK and UK success stories in Canada and we have included a selection this edition. If you have similar stories to tell do get in touch – we hope to feature many in our 2024 Success Stories publications.
Last month we held a Member Engagement evening at Canada House and we were delighted that so many members attended and new members presented. Amongst those presenting were: Panther Metals plc; Trowbridge; EBS; WSI; Aplomb Translations; ERC Evolution; Optimiser and Canada Day London. If you missed the event and would like an e-introduction to any of these companies, drop us a line: info@canada-uk.org
In addition we offer a warm welcome to our newest Corporate Member: Cambridge International Academy and EBS.
Our event programme for November and December is getting very busy and we will shortly be promoting pre and post COP 28 events (15 Nov & 14 Dec), a lunch with BC’s Minister of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation (27 Nov), our Christmas lunch with Ontario’s Energy Minister (1 Dec), a Health & Life Sciences half day & reception at Canary Wharf Group (6 Dec), an online IP workshop (11 Dec) and a DEI Forum event with PwC on the new regulatory framework for Diversity & Inclusion in financial services (12 Dec).
Reminder: members have been contacted this summer about their corporate and personal profiles on our new website - for assistance setting up your Privacy Settings, click here or get in touch. You will need these set so you can contact other members direct.
Finally, we will shortly once again be reaching out to members in our Annual Member Survey. We encourage you all to provide feedback, so we can adapt and deliver the services you need. One lucky survey winner will receive a pair of return airline tickets to Canada.
Thank you for your continued support and happy networking.
