Dear Members & Friends of the Chamber
The Canada-UK Chamber congratulates Sir Keir Starmer and the Labour Party on their general election victory and pledges to work in partnership with the new Government to boost two-way international trade and investment between the UK and Canada.
Our bilateral Chamber stands ready to assist the new UK government unlock international investment, help expand markets for British exporters, increase the UK’s competitiveness, and shape emerging regulatory frameworks. Our latest press release from Chamber President Wayne Lee can be read here.
The bilateral Canada-UK commercial relationship that Labour has now inherited is impressive - combined two-way trade and investment between the UK and Canada adds up to more than C$410bn. As H.E. Ralph Goodale, Canada’s High Commissioner to the UK reminded us at our Annual Pancake breakfast at Canada House last week: ‘The United Kingdom is Canada’s 3rd largest trading partner. Over 3,200 Canadian companies export goods to the UK every year – more than 93% of them are small and medium sized enterprises. Companies that export tend to be more competitive, more innovative, more profitable and pay better wages. Going the other way, more than 11,500 British SMEs export every year to Canada. The dollar value of goods and services traded back-and-forth between us totals C$47.8bn (almost £30bn).’
This edition we feature ten Canadian Success Stories with truly inspiring stories – from biotech to banking, from emerging firms to multinationals. They are all included in our latest publication: ‘Canadian Success Stories in the UK’.
If your company would like to feature in a future publication focusing on Canadian and UK Success stories helping both the UK and Canada to grow and prosper, do get in touch.
Our membership has recently been joined by our newest members:
Dye & Durham (our latest Charter member); Immigration Advice Service; Sherrards Solicitors; Edwin Coe LLP and St Martin in the Fields Trust. Members wishing an introduction to any of these organisations, get in touch with the Secretariat, and/or use the Members’ Area Directory of Members on our website.
If you can make it, join us on 17 July for a networking breakfast at Canada House ahead of your planned holidays.
Meantime happy networking, and have a great summer.
