Matthieu Arseneau joined National Bank of Canada in 2005 and has been a member of the Economy and Strategy Group since 2009. As Deputy Chief Economist, his responsibilities include writing analyses of trends in the North American economy and contributing to the development of forecasting scenarios. He is currently on the Board of Directors of the CIRANO. Before joining the Economy and Strategy team, Mr. Arseneau worked in risk management at National Bank Financial Group, where his responsibilities included analysis of a range of Canadian industries and development of quantitative tools for risk modelling. He previously worked at the Research Chair in Taxation and Public Finance at the Université de Sherbrooke, gaining expertise in areas including the impact of demographic change on the economy and public finances. Mr. Arseneau holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the Université de Montréal and a master’s degree in economics from the Université du Québec à Montréal.
